Trick-or-Treat

Happy Halloween! We decided to repeat last year and trick-or-treat with Amanda and Joshua.

We arrived around 3:30, had an early dinner and then started getting ready for show-time around 6:00pm.
This is unfortunately the only group shot I have of the kids. And notice, Gianna is MIA. (It took us a while to convince her to put on her giraffe costume.)

Amanda was a moose, Joshua was "Red" from some Pokemon video game. (On a side note; while trick-or-treating, a teenager recognized the costume and said that was his favorite video game when he was younger. Joshua couldn't have been more excited!) Gemma was the grime-reaper (what happened to being a princess????) and Spencer recycled his Clone Trooper costume from last year.

David even dressed up! See the plunger (purchased from Target that morning) on his head with the rings.....he was a "Ring-Toss"!!
I have no idea why I didn't get Gemma in this photo. Oh, I remember, because the kids were RUNNING like mad from one house to another! I was lucky to get this photo of Spencer!
We were out for about 45 minutes when the big kids decided to go one way and we decided to head back home. Gianna was having a lot of fun, but I knew she was going to crash soon!

The big kids were out for another hour and came home with there buckets full to the top of candy! They had a great time and are already talking about costumes for next year!

Saturday

Today was a great day. We started it by cheering for David as he ran in the Monster 5K at Lake Harriett. It was a very brisk fall morning, but it was so fun seeing so many people and dogs (for the 5-K9) dressed in costume.

Before the race

David decided not to go in costume, but Gianna debuted her giraffe costume and Gemma went as a crazed Italian soccer fan. She borrowed the jersey and "helmet" from her daddy. Spencer originally was a knight, but he got tired of carrying the shield, sword and helmet so it ended up in the stroller.
Once the 5K started, we knew we had about 25 minutes to wait until we would be seeing David, so we walked over to the playground and played!
I'm not quite sure what Gemma was trying to do here - but I know she had fun!
We saw David coming around the bend, so the kids and I ran to the curb so he could hear us cheering for him. This was the best I could do with a photo - not too shabby! He ran it in under 30 minutes - which is great considering he really hasn't be running on a regular basis since JUNE! He had been running regularly since March and participated in several races in DC, but then we showed up in June and his work-out schedule suffered.

I'm so glad we were there this time to cheer him on! We can't wait for the next race - and you never know.....David might have a running partner!

After that great morning, we stopped for lunch and were home by 2:00. Just in time to start yard work! While Gianna and I stayed in the house baking cookies look what these guys were doing....

Halloween Party

Tonight was Spencer's Cub-scout Halloween party and since the scouts are very family oriented, we all attended the festivities. There was a bounce house, golf course and bean bag toss. I think the real high light was the constant running around in the gym. Here are my little fairy, clone trooper and Princess Fiona. (Gianna doesn't look thrilled, but she was really was having a blast.)
Gianna loved the pumpkin so much that she needed to give it a hug.
Gemma enjoying a glass of juice.
Spencer was in full character in this photo.
And here is Joshua as a ninja! It's because of Joshua that we started scouting. We're hoping this is something the boys will be able to enjoy together.

MEA Weekend

The kids are off of school this week for MEA. Yesterday we did a whole bunch of nothing! They weren't pleased, but I liked not having to be anywhere.

However, today was different. David took the day off and we decided to venture out to our usual pumpkin patch. (Click here for our 2008 visit and here for our 2009 visit.)

Here are some photos of our afternoon!

Getting ready for the hay ride.
On the hay ride!

Fall Fun

I snapped some photos of Gianna playing in a pile of leaves. Gemma and Spencer weren't interested because the pile was too small. Actually, the word they used was "pathetic".

Dentist Appointment

I took Gianna to the dentist a couple of weeks ago and I forgot to post it...

I was hoping this appointment would go better than the last time. Walking into the clinic I felt pretty good - we'd been reading one of her Little Critter books about going to the dentist. Gianna seemed really comfortable with the idea.

When we arrived, Gianna went straight to the toys in the waiting room. And when the nurse called her name she walked in without any hesitation! So far so good, right.....
Gianna was a little nervous walking into the room, but I reminded her about the Little Critter story. That seemed to help. She was able to let the nurse count her teeth without a problem. (Last time she wouldn't open her mouth AT. ALL.)

Then the nurse had to clean her teeth. Long story short, she managed to clean 4 teeth. The nurse and the dentist said it's pretty normal for her age.

I hope it is just a phase, because at this rate she'll be starting kindergarten before she gets all of her teeth cleaned!

Pumpkin Patch

Today we spent the afternoon with David's family. After a yummy lunch at Gino and Linda's house we went to the pumpkin patch. I think this was the first time we've ever been to the patch in shorts and t-shirts! This was my attempt to get a photo of the three kids with a cute fall background. This was the best I could come up with.
Once we had all of our tickets, we were ready to head into the corn maze.
David was trying to see over the corn-stalks. I asked him to pose like this - he gladly humored me. : )
My pretty girl.

My other pretty girl.
After the corn maze (which took an HOUR!) we walked over to the other activities. Gianna loved the petting zoo. While we were in the zoo David was with Gemma and Spencer shooting spud guns and corn cannons.
After the animals, we went over to ride the pedal cars. Here are Gianna and daddy waiting in line - however, Gianna decided I had to ride with her. David was so bummed!

Our final activity was the tractor ride.....
This is Amanda - one of Gianna's favorite people!

Nona even hopped on for a ride!
We had such a wonderful day!
