A Day at The Museum

The kids and I decided the best way to spend a hot and sticky day is with air conditioning. We decided to use the a/c at the Science Museum, that way we were cool and entertained. Plus the kids didn't realize they were learning things at the same time!

Gemma and Spencer enjoyed the exhibits - especially when they were "Germ Detectives". They had fun playing doctor/scientist while trying to diagnose their patients. The museum had several cubicals set-up like an exam room and the children were able to exam patients just like a doctor. They even saw what germs look like under a microscope....I wished I hadn't looked.

Here the kids learn about washing their hands.

After visiting many of the exhibits and eating lunch; we decided to head out to "The Big Back Yard". After spending almost two hours in the cool a/c - the 90' temp and 90% humidity was miserable. However, it didn't stop Gemma and Spencer! Spencer played in the sand/mud pile and tried to create something. I'm not sure what, but he sure had fun trying.

Gemma couldn't wait to pan for gems. She actually found 6 little stones. I doubt they are real; but I'm not saying a word. She was so proud and excited to have found the little treasures.

The Science Museum isn't really the place to be when you are only 10 months old. Gianna spent the majority of her time in the stroller; but there was enough activity going on to keep her entertained. Unfortunately, there was also enough activity to prevent her from taking a nap....God forbid she misses out on some of the fun!

A Day at The Beach!

We had a great day at the beach on Thursday (7-24). I'm proud to say the kids and I were out of the house by 9:45 and on our way to Lake Elmo, (we made a few pit-stops). We were relaxing by the way at 10:30! I don't think I've made it there that early all summer!

Gemma and Spencer spent most of the time playing in the water with friends, while Gianna and I enjoyed shade. Gianna dipped her feet in the water a few times, but we decided it wasn't hot enough for full immersion.

Here are the kids enjoying their day at the beach!

Gianna had so much fun in the sand. She played for almost 10 minutes with the shovel and pail before she tried to eat the sand!

During one of the "safety" breaks, Spencer and Gemma worked on a sand creation. Gemma is telling me during this photo op, that the creation wasn't camera ready yet. Oh well!

Nothing New

Not a lot has happened in the last few days....Gemma and Spencer went to a friends house yesterday for a couple of hours so Gianna and I could do some shopping. Last night we had our family pictures taken at Harriett Island. The photographer is a friend of the family and she did a great job. The weather even cooperated. It was one of those picture perfect skys - blue with the big, puffy white clouds. Sarah, the photographer, let me peek at a few shots and they looked great. I think I'll even get our Christmas card out of the event! It's only July and I'm already crossing something off the list that normally doesn't get done until the end of December!!

Today we decided to stay close to home. I decided doing laundry would be a fun thing to tackle. Along with the normal list of home chores; cleaning bathrooms, vaccumming, dusting and cleaning the kitchen. Trust me, don't be jealous.

Anyway, I should start posting photos so this will be more interesting. I think I'll start tomorrow. The kids and I are headed out to Lake Elmo with the preschool group. There is a chance for rain, but that is not going to stop a group of mothers from getting out of the house with their children for the possibility of adult interaction!

I'm new to this

I'm going to try my hand at blogging. I thought this would be a way for family and friends near and far to keep up with us. I'm not much of a writer, but from other blogs I've read, that hasn't stopped most people.

It's Sunday and David is at reserves. Gemma and Spencer have a birthday party this afternoon (thank God!!!). It's a bowling party and I know the kids are going to have a blast. Maybe while they're gone I can actually get Gianna to take a nap! ha ha (Gianna is not a fan of sleep - I'm lucky to get 45 minutes out of her for a nap)

Well, here it is. My first official blog. Let's see how long I keep up with it!
