I sometimes wonder, "Who reads my blog?".
Feel free to leave a comment. At least I'll know more than just my mom is reading! ;)

Prayer request

David's oldest brother Dan will be having a triple by-pass next week. I ask that you pray for a complication-free surgery and a speedy recovery. He had an angiogram last week, so we knew that by-pass was a possibility...now it's a reality.
David's second oldest brother, John, has just been told he has cancer. I don't have many details; I spoke with John this afternoon and he was going to be having another CT today. More tests will give more answers. Pray that the cancer is at the earliest stage possible and that it responds to treatments quickly.
Please pray for these men and their loving familes who are going through a very stressful and scary time.
Finally, please pray for my mother and father in law. I can't imagine how they are feeling.

I'm so tired.......
Well, it seems that waking up between 4:30 and 5am is becoming a regular activity for my precious little girl. David and I are trying to adjust her sleeping schedule per Dr. Ferber (see old post). Today she and I were up at 4:35am and she has only slept about a total of 90 minutes today. We've been depriving her of napping with the hope that at 9pm when we put her to bed, she'll sleep until 6am - at the earliest!

Winter Carnival
Since the weather was so beautiful on Saturday, we decided to go to the Torchlight Parade in downtown St. Paul for the close of the Winter Carnival. We left at 4:30 to drop off Gianna with Bamma...we figured it would be easier for her and us!
After we dropped off the little one, we walked to Cossetta's for dinner....however we weren't the only people with that idea. Gemma and I stayed in the pizza line while Spencer and David went to the hot food line. That was a mistake. In the time it took for Gemma and I to wait for pizza (about 10 minutes), find a place to sit, eat our pizza slowly and use the restroom - David and Spencer were just getting their food! Fortunately, they didn't breath while eating and were were out of there quickly.
We walked back to the parade and arrived just in time for it to start. (David is carrying Spencer's left-overs!)
Here are David and the kids...we were right in front! The parade was your typical parade - we saw the police cars and fire engines...and every towns royalty within a 100 mile radius. It didn't matter though - we were having a great time just being together. I wished Gianna could have been with us, but I think at 16 months old, she had more fun at Bamma's house.
Spencer took this photo...not the greatest angle, but it's nice to have a photo of the two of us together!

Field Trip for Spencer

I had the pleasure of attending Spencer's first field trip of the school year to Dodge Nature Center today. We had a great time despite the mind numbing cold! As soon as we got on the bus, I had to pull out the camera - I got a couple self-portraits, but was then told by Spencer that I had taken enough! He obviously doesn't realize I need to document all of our fun for the blog! ;)
Once we arrived we met with the instructors for a quick lesson on what animals we may see (woodpeckers, squirrels, deer, rabbits...)and the different clues they may leave for us ( tracks, fur and the ever popular scat). Fortunately this was done in a mildly warm wooden structure...the rest of our time was outdoors. Once outside, we started our search and quickly found various tracks and scat of several animals. The only creature we actually saw was the woodpecker - I guess a group of twelve 1st graders made the animals run and hide...go figure!
After about 30 minutes, we headed over to a frozen pond and the kids were able to use kick-sleds. (It was at this time I realized the batteries in my camera died!) Finally we rounded up all the kids and it was time to head to the buses. It was a great time and I'm looking forward to our next field trip...which will be indoors!!!
