Our plan for tonight was to head to the US Capitol and listen to the United States Air Force Band play on the west steps. However, when we arrived at 7:15 for the 8pm show - we were the only ones there! I saw two Capitol police officers to confirm we were at the right place - we were, however the concert had been cancelled due to the heat (it hit 102' in DC yesterday).

You can't tell from the glare, but the time on David's watch is 8:35 pm - and it's still 101'!!!!!!

So we decided to take advantage of the opportunity and take photos and just let the kids run around and play. (Fortunately, military bands play in different locations 5 nights a week - we'll eventually catch one.)

The kids had fun running around the lawn and feeding squirrels cheese balls. It was also nice to spend some time with friends - John is a co-worker of David's and his family is spending the summer in DC too. The kids get along great - they're always asking when the next get-together is!
